Brief introduction

For our second year project myself, Michael John Lynch and my wonderfully brilliant lab partner, Barry Smith have chosen to design and build a micro plasma generator

After a short brief with our tutor, Dr Taylor (Thursday 24th November 2011) and some initial research. We found three core elements to the project, the electrical, electronic and mechanical side. We decided that Barry should take the electrical side, and I the electronic side, and we would work together on the mechanical aspect.

We feel that this was the best approach as it allows us allocates or time well, in addition to playing to our strengths.

Due to this, my posts on this blog will focus primarily on the electronic side of the project naturally.

The following week, (Friday 2nd December 2011) we met again with Dr Taylor as well as the two other groups who are doing the same project. Unfortunately group 61 was not to be seen.
After a slightly more detailed discussion, and suggestions by Barry and me, it was decided that each group should do the project differently.

I suggested instead of using a 555 IC or Mosfet based circuit, as it has all been done before, to go down the microcontroller route.
